Tim A. Eckhardt is a Law Clerk at Allison & Mosby-Scott. Tim joined the team at Allison & Mosby-Scott shortly after graduating law school. He works primarily in family law, and also does criminal defense work. Tim also has an interest in employment law, having taken courses in ERISA Law, Employment Discrimination, Workers’ Compensation, and Workplace Dispute Resolution.
Tim was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois. He moved to Normal in 2012, and has lived here ever since. Mr. Eckhardt graduated from Illinois State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude. He then attended the University of Illinois College of Law, earning his Juris Doctor, cum laude.
While in law school, Mr. Eckhardt focused on a practice-oriented curriculum, including Advanced Trial Advocacy, Complex Litigation, and multiple internships. Tim received the CALI award in Legal Research – given to the highest grade in the class. He was also on the negotiation team where he was a national semi-finalist in the ABA Negotiation Competition.
At the University of Illinois, Mr. Eckhardt was an executive board member of the Student Bar Association, and a founding executive board member of the Downstate Legal Society. Tim and a group of his fellow students saw a need at the College of Law for resources and connections for students interesting in practicing law in Illinois outside of the Chicago area, and so they formed the Downstate Legal Society to help bridge that resource gap.
During school, Mr. Eckhardt worked as an intern at the State’s Attorney’s Office in McLean County where he was able to participate in a felony jury trial as well as many other hearings. He also worked in Jimmy John’s Legal Department and State Farm’s Law Department.
Mr. Eckhardt joined the McLean County Bar Association while still in law school, and continues to be an active member today.
Tim is married to April Eckhardt, and they have one child together, a son named Roman. Tim enjoys playing volleyball, riding bikes with his family, and playing board games with friends in his spare time.
